In this tutorial, the Simulation water jet penetration into the stone piece in Abaqus by using SPH method has been studied. The stone is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The water column is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below
To model water behavior, Us-Up equation of state is used. The sound velocity in the water and dynamic viscosity are considered. To model stone behavior under severe pressure load, Abaqus has some material models which they can be implanted by using input capability or subroutine. The proper material should be define to obtain damage and cracks during the water jet penetration. The dynamic explicit step is appropriate for this type of analysis. The general contact algorithm with contact property is used. The boundary condition is assigned to the two bottom sides of the stone. The initial velocity is applied to the water column nodes. The mesh should be fine at the contact zone for the stone, so some partitions are needed to make a good mesh. To define particles from the water column, Abaqus cae option and input file capability can be uses. during the simulation, the water jet column penetrated into the stone and it made a hole. All results such as stress, strain, damage, and …are available. You can see some figures for the results below
