Simulation steel sphere impact to the sand cube with DEM approach in ABAQUS

In this video impact process with DEM approach in Abaqus has been investigated. Impact happened between a steel ball to the sand cube. A sand has modeled as a three dimensional part with DEM element and  just density and damping used for this part. The steel part has modeled as three dimensional element. Explicit procedure is appropriate for this type of analysis and during impact process sand distributed under the ball penetration. For definition contact ,edit input file capability is implanted .You can see some figures of this simulation at bellow
