In this tutorial, the Simulation ship moving through Ice-Water path in Abaqus by using SPH method has been done. The ship is imported to the Abaqus because of its complex geometry. The ice and water are modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. You can see a figure of the assembled part below
Icebreaker ships are a special class of ships that are designed to break even thickest of the ice and make some of the most inhospitable paths accessible to the world, navigating through the ice-covered waters, especially in the Polar Regions. The significant features that make the ice-breakers different from other vessels are its strengthened hull to resist ice waters, a specially designed ice-clearing shape to make a path forward and extreme power to navigate through sea ice
To model water behavior, the Us-Up equation with viscosity is used. The ice is a brittle material and during the simulation, the ice will breaks, so the proper material model should be used to consider ice failure. The dynamic explicit step with imaginary time is selected. The time of the simulation is too much. The general contact algorithm with contact property is used. The rigid body constraint is assigned to the ship part. The proper boundary condition is assigned to the ice and water layer and also movement to the ship. The mesh should be fine to get the good results and also the Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic formulation is selected for the water and ice
After the simulation, all results such as, stress, ice failure, displacement, damage, and… are available. You can see some figures for the results below
You can provide CAE ,INP,and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Six Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to beginning process
