In this tutorial the Simulation rocket impact and explosion over a concrete panel in Abaqus has been investigated. The concrete panel is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The rocket is modeled as a three-dimensional shell part, and the TNT is modeeld as a solid part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below
Explosions may propagate their effects in the far-field due to the propagation of the generated pressure wave in the unconfined space, which in turn can damage any industrial equipment containing a significant amount of hazardous material .Due to the complex nature and the intrinsic large uncertainties characterizing explosion phenomena, the analysis of the interaction between industrial assets and the pressure wave is a complex and often unsolvable task
To model TNT behavior, the JWL equation of state is selected. The Jones-Wilkins-Lee (JWL) equation of state (EOS) is widely used in reactive hydro simulations to describe thermodynamics of both detonation products (DP) and unreacted high explosives (HE). To model Concrete material, the JH2 material model is selected, it can consider damage propagation during the impact and explosion. To model rocket behavior, steel material as elastic-plastic model with damage behavior is used. The dynamic explicit step is so appropriate for this type of analysis, The general contact algorithm is considered. The fixed boundary condition is assigned to the sides of the slab and initial boundary is applied to the rocket. The mesh should be fine to obtaine the correct results
After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, explosion, penetration, damage, and … are available. You can see some figures for the results below
