Simulation of the Cold Spray process of an ABS material by using the CEL method in Abaqus

Simulation of the Cold Spray process of an ABS material by using the CEL method in Abaqus has been investigated in the present model. The ABS is an amorphous polymer comprised of three monomers, acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. ABS is most commonly polymerized through the emulsification process or the expert art of combining multiple products that don’t typically combine into a single product.

The ABS target is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part, the particle also is modeled as a solid part, and the domain as an Eulerian part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below

The cold spray process is a method for producing a coating or a free-standing structure by utilizing high-velocity particles, which upon impact with a substrate or previously deposited particles convert the particle’s kinetic energy into plastic deformation, strain, and ultimately heat.
To model particle and target material, the Johnson-Cook hardening is selected. The couple-temperature-displacement as a dynamic step is appropriate for this type of analysis. The proper interaction and contact behavior are considered. The mechanical boundary conditions are assigned to the target and Eulerian boundary conditions to the Eulerian part. The small seed size to create a bunch of elements is so important
After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, temperature, deformation, and others are available. You can see some figures for the results below

You can provide this simulation’s CAE, INP, and English video files here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Eight Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to begin the process
