Simulation Johnson–Holmquist-II model of glass under dynamic compression load in Abaqus has been studied in this tutorial. The glass is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below
Annealed glass is clear and transparent, and its fabrication is inexpensive. Because of its advantages, annealed glass is still used in large numbers in the country and in cities. However, if there is a strong wind, annealed glass is very easily damaged by windborne debris. Therefore, it is necessary to study the impact resistance of annealed glass. The current research on glass is more focused on windshields of cars and aircraft or prestrained and laminated glass in buildings. Less research has been done on annealed glass. At present, experiments and numerical simulations are used to study the impact resistance of annealed glass. The constitutive relation is the basis of numerical simulation, and it is an important part of the experimental investigation. Therefore, with the continuous development of numerical simulation technology, how to simulate materials more accurately and make them conform to their actual force performance has become a matter of concern
Johnson et al. proposed a JH-II model suitable for brittle materials and considering the strain rate effect. The model includes a strength model, damage model and pressure state equation. They also give the relevant param-eters of the float glass. The material constants of the JH-II model were derived from the results and used in the explosion test and impact test of laminated glass. The results showed that the improved JH- II model is effective and accurate for simulating the response of annealed glass under impact and explosion loads
The dynamic explicit step, proper contacts, load, and mesh are used to perform a reliable model. After the simulation, all results such as , stress, strain, failure, glass damage, failed element, compression, force-displacement diagram, and others are available. You can see some figures for the results below
