Simulation dynamic compression test of a RC column with UHPFRC core in Abaqus

In this tutorial, the Simulation dynamic compression test of a RC column with UHPFRC core in Abaqus has been done, The concrete column is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The steel bar and strip are modeeld as three-dimensional wire paer. The Ultra-High-Performance-Fiber-Reinforce Concrete is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The two rigid shell part are use a load member and doundary zone. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below

Ultra-high performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) is a cementitious material produced with Portland cement, pozzolans, small size aggregates, inert fillers, superplasticizer, and surface-treated steel fibers. The outstanding properties of high compressive strength, low permeability of the hardened composite, and high residual tensile strength compared to normal strength concrete (NSC) and steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) make this material a promising solution to improve the punching capacity, durability, and deformation capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) column

The concrete damaged plasticity model in Abaqus is a continuum, plasticity-based, damage model for concrete. It assumes that the main two failure mechanisms are tensile cracking and compressive crushing of the concrete material.The model assumes that the uniaxial tensile and compressive response of concrete is characterized by damaged plasticity

The dynamic and static step both can be used in this analysis. The ideal contact is assumed between the UHPFRC core and RC column. The steel reinforcements ae embedded inside the RC cloumn. The proper boundary is assigned to the to rigid bodeis. The mesh should fine to get the correct results

After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, tension damage, compression damage, force-displacement diagra,. abd … are available. You can see some figure for the resutls below
