Honeycomb sandwich structures are broadly used in the aerospace and automotive industries, particularly as energy-absorption materials, and there are limited applications in civil infrastructure, such as highway bridges and building construction. Due to their unique and advantageous properties such as high mechanical performance per unit weight and high energy-absorption capability, the sandwich structures with honeycomb core show great potential for impact protection and mitigation related applications. Recent fast growing interest in composite materials for infrastructure retrofitting, protection, and hazard mitigation provides an excellent opportunity for development and implementation of honeycomb composite sandwich structures.
In this simulation GFRP is used as material for face and back sheet which drawn by solid continuum parts and the internal part which made by shell element. You can see a figure of assemble parts at below
Dynamic explicit procedure is used to simulate large deformation phenomenon . The behavior between solid surfaces assume as prefect contact and between core part with face and back sheet as a surface to node contact with hard contact property. During the simulation the damage parameter would be obvious and the large deformation happened in the middle point of the sandwich panel. You can see some figures of the results of this simulation at below
You can provide CAE ,INP,and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Four Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to beginning process
