In this project, the Simulation bending test of an aluminium-timber composite beam with connections in Abaqus has been done. The timber wood slab is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The aluminium beam is modeled as a three-dimensional shell part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below
An aluminium-timber composite (ATC) beam consists of an aluminium girder and a timber slab. The connection between these elements is unproblematic when hexagon head wood screws, glue, or bolts are used. The combination of a metal beam and a timber slab is not new, since steel-timber composite structures have already been investigated. However, aluminium-timber composite (ATC) structures are a relatively new solution in civil engineering
To model aluminium material, the elastic-plastic model with damage behavior is selected. The wood is modeled as an anisotropic material with plastic behavior in tension and compression. The general static step is considered to calculate the stress-strain from the bending load. The connection between the timber wood and aluminium beam is assumed as the connector with zero length as the beam connectors. The proper boundary and mesh are assigned to all parts
After the simulation, all results like yield strength, stress, strain, damage, deformation, and others are available. You can see some figures for the results below
You can provide CAE, INP, and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Thirty Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to begin the process
