In this tutorial, the Simulation air blast load over a RC beam reinforced with Cloth Concrete cover in Abaqus has been done, The normal concrete core is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The cloth concrete part is modeled as a three-dimensional patrt. The steel bar and strips are modeled as wire part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below
Concrete Cloth is a flexible cement impregnated fabric that hardens when hydrated to form a thin durable water and fire proof concrete layer. The material is a mixture of Concrete blend, synthetic fibres and it has a PVC backing. You can see a figure of the cloth concrete material below
The model is a continuum, plasticity-based, damage model for concrete. It assumes that the main two failure mechanisms are tensile cracking and compressive crushing of the concrete material. To model both concrete core and cloth concrete cover, the CDP material model is used. The compression and tension data are introduced to the Abaqus and besides that, the damage data also are defined. To consider fully damaged behaviour of both concrete part, the Strain damage option through edit keyboard is considered. The steel material with elastic-plastic behaviour is selected
The dynamic explicit step with mass scale technique to reduce the time of the analysis is selected. The contact between concrete core and cloth conrete is assumed as an ideal contact. The reinforcements are embedded inside the concrete core. The CONWEP method is used to model the air blast load over the composite beam bu using the mass and the location of the TNT in the interaction section. The proper boundary conditions and mesh are assigned to the all parts
After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, damage, failure, compression damage, tension damage are available. You can see some figures for the results below
