In this tutorial, the Air blast explosion over a rienforced concrete column with spiral CFRP strip in Abaqus has been investigated. The concrete column is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The steel strips and bars are modeled as three-dimensional wire part. The spiral CFRP part is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. You can see figures of the assembled parts below

Nowadays, the dynamic loads become the most significant factors in concrete structures because of their unpredictability and powerful destructiveness. The behavior of concrete under dynamic loads shows a critical difference in comparison with static loads due to the effects of the strain rate. The concrete damage plasticity (CDP) model is widely used and is recognized with high-reliability in the analysis of concrete behavior. The CDP model is a good material  model for concrete column under massive dynamic load like blast. This model consider the compression and tension strenght with damage behaviour, also the fully damage model to remove the failed element, was used

To model steel members, the elastic-plastic model with ductile damage option is selected. The elastic model is considered for the CFRP solid part as a core for concrete column

Dynamic explicit step is a good choice for thei analysis, the steel reinforcement and CFRP are embedded insider the concrete column. The CONWEP blast emthod is selected by using TNT location and its mass. The fixed boundary condition is assigned to the two ends of the column. The mesh should be find to obtain the correct resutls

After the simulation, all resutls such as stress, strain, tension and compression damage, concrete column failre and other results are available. You can see some figures for the resutls below
