Simulation cyclic loading behavior of a reinforced rubberized concrete column in Abaqus

In this tutorial, the Simulation cyclic loading behavior of a reinforced rubberized concrete column in Abaqus has been investigated. The rubberized concrete column is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The steel bars and strips are modeled as three-dimensional wire part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below.

Vulcanized rubber material extracted from end-of-life tires is highly durable, has good strength and deformability, and can maintain its volume under stress, thus making it an ideal candidate to replace mineral aggregate for highly deformable concrete. The Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model is widely used to simulate the failure behavior of concrete in finite element analysis. The CDP treats cracked concrete as a continuum and cracks are represented by cracking strains smeared over a certain width of fracture zone, or the width of a finite element. Thus the constitutive behavior of cracked concrete is modeled using the stress-strain relations combined with a damage parameter

To model the RuC column concrete damaged plasticity is used. The data of the compression and tensile test are imported into the Abaqus from the reference paper. To model steel material behavior, the elastic-plastic data is selected. For this analysis, some different steps can be used such as general static, dynamic implicit, or explicit. In this simulation, the general step was used to model cyclic loading. The embedded region constraint is used to define steel reinforcements inside the concrete host. The fixed boundary condition is used for the bottom surface of the concrete and cyclic load is applied to the top surface of the column. The mesh should be fine to obtain correct results

After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, force-displacement diagram, and tensile damage are available. You can see some figures for the results below

You can provide CAE, INP, and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Six Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to beginning the process
