In this tutorial, the Simulation compression test of the short concrete column reinforce with Banana-Epoxy lamina in Abaqus has been investigated. The concrete column is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The Banana-Epoxy lamina is modeled as a three-dimensional shell part. The steel bars and strips are modeled as three-dimensional wire parts. You can see figures of the assembled parts below
The Concrete Damaged Plasticity model is used for the concrete column. The model is a continuum, plasticity-based, damage model for concrete. It assumes that the main two failure mechanisms are tensile cracking and compressive crushing of the concrete material. The concrete damaged plasticity model provides a general capability for modeling concrete and other quasi-brittle materials in all types of structures. To model steel behavior, elastic-plastic material model is selected. To model Banana-Epoxy lamina, the composite shell with different fiber orientation is used. The general static step is appropriate for this type of Analysis. The perfect contact is assumed between composite parts and concrete column. The steel reinforcements are embedded inside the concrete host. The general contact algorithm is selected to consider all contacts in the contact domain. The fixed boundary condition is assigned to the bottom side and displacement to the top rigid body. The mesh should be fine to obtain correct results
After the simulation, all results such as stress, strain, displacement, force-displacement diagram, and … are available. You can see some figures for the results below
