Simulation steel projectile impact to the water covered by ice layer in Abaqus

In this tutorial, the Simulation steel projectile impact to the water covered by ice layer in Abaqus  has been studied. The steel projectile is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. The water and air are modeled as three-dimensional eulerian part. The ice is modeled as a three-dimensional solid part. You can see a figure of the assembled parts below

To model steel behavior elastic-plastic material model is used. The ideal gas as an equation of state is used to model air behavior. The Us-Up model is selected to define the water behavior with viscosity. To model ice behavior as a brittle material, Abaqus gives some material model which are appropriate for this simulation. Those material models should be defined as input file or VUMAT subroutine. In this case, to generate ice material, input capability is used. The dynamic explicit step is appropriate for this type of impact. The general contact algorithm with contact property is selected to define all contacts in the contact domain. To define eulerian material, volume fraction method or uniform material model can be used. The second method is selected in this simulation. The proper boundary condition is assigned to the eulerian domain and ice. The initial velocity is used for the steel projectile. The mesh should be so fine in the eulerian domain to have a better results

After the simulation, all results such ass stress, strain, damage, water movement, and … are available. You can see some figures for the results below

You can provide CAE ,INP,and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Six Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to beginning process
