In this tutorial Simulation Eulerian-Lagrangian explosion in the stone tunnel in interaction with soil in Abaqus has been studied.The stone tunnel is modeled as three dimensional solid part, the TNT and soil is modeled as volume inside the Eulerian domain. You can see a figure of the assembled parts at belowThe JWL equation of state to modeld TNT behavior is used. This material model can convert chemical energy which released from the detonation to the mechanical pressure. Abaqus has some material model for stone and rock which some of them are suitable for the blast analysis like Johnson-Holmquist or HJC. Dynamic explicit procedure is appropriate for this type of analysis.General contact algorithm is used to model contact among all parts with default property.The fix boundary conditions is assigned to the bottom surfaces of the tunnel and zero velocities to the Eulerian domain.To model TNT material and soil inside the Eulerian domain ,volume fraction techniques is used. By this item Abaqus calculate the volume of the solid parts inside the Eulerian domain. The mesh quality for the tunnel and Eulerian domain has a great effect on output results. After the simulation the TNT wave propagation, damage variable for the tunnel and stress…..can be achievable . You can see some figures of the results at below
