In this tutorial simulation and calculation the total load capacity of the pile group in Abaqus has been studied.Because of the symmetry ,one quarter of the model has been generated. The pile and soil are modeled as three dimensional part. The soil material is modeled as elastic with cap plasticity couple with hardening and permeability.The concrete part is modeled as elastic material. You can see schematic of this problem at below
As in any soil–pile system, interface elements that are capable of simulating the frictional interaction between the pile surface and the soil must be used. In the analysis, the pile is assumed to be in perfect contact with the soil at the start. The interaction between the pile and the soil is simulated using penalty-type interface elements between the pile and the soil with a friction factor of 0.3. This type of interface is capable of describing the frictional interaction between the pile surface and the soil in contact.Three steps as two static step and one soil step with large time have been used. Because of the large time for soils step the soil will be completely drained. The symmetry boundary,body force,void ratio and geostatic stress are assigned to the soil part.
