Simulation underwater explosion based on Eulerian finite element approach in Abaqus

In this tutorial simulation underwater explosion based on Eulerian finite element approach in Abaqus has been investigated. The main phenomena of underwater explosion includes shock wave formation and propagation, bubble pulsation and migration.Generally, considering the differences of time sequence and time scale, the process of underwater explosion is usually divided into two stages, i.e., the shock wave stage and bubble pulsation stage, and studied individually. At the former stage, the duration of shock wave is in milliseconds and the peak pressure can be up to the level of GPa.This stage is usually featured by strong nonlinearity and the compressibility of the fluid should be considered

In this tutorial all parts are modeled as three dimensional Eulerian part which has shown on below figure

TNT behavior is modeled as JWL material which can convert chemical energy release from the explosion process to mechanical pressure, water is modeled as Us-Up equation of stat and air is modeled as ideal gas. Dynamic explicit step is appropriate for this type of analysis and proper boundary conditions are assigned to the part. To use Eulerian procedure it is necessary to use volume fraction method or uniform material method to located the Eulerian material. In this tutorial uniform material procedure is used. The mesh quality has a huge effect over the wave propagation , so using the small mesh is necessity .After the simulation the wave propagation inside the water and air is clear and you can see some figures of the results at below

You can provide CAE ,INP,and English video files of this simulation here. The cost of these files is Twenty-Six Euros. you can click on the bellow bottom to beginning process
