In this tutorial dynamic simulation of tensile test of a steel piece under axial deformation in Abaqus has been investigated. A three dimensional part like below figure is used to model steel geometry
To model failure behavior of the steel piece shear and ductile damage with evolution, isotropic plasticity with strain rate dependent has been used. The data is extracted from Abaqus documentation.This model can be done in static and dynamic analysis. In this example dynamic explicit step to observe damage and failing has been used. To hasten the simulation mass scale as a time target is used. The back and front face of the steel part are consider as rigid surface which the load as displacement is assigned to them. The quality of mesh at the middle of part is so important.
